Britain owes reparations to India

The speech by Shashi Tharoor contained the topic; ‘Britain owes reparations to India for insult and injury’. What I understood from this speech was that British coming and ruling over India was harmful to our country. They changed and made many laws. Whatever they did, they did for their benefit, not us Indians’. We all followed and listened to them because they had power, and they used it for themselves. That is one reason I don’t believe in dictatorship. “If I were a Britisher in those times, I think I would’ve used my powers a bit but I also would have listened to the citizens and been fair.” This is the thought that everybody gets, sometimes it’s true, but most of the time when people get that power, they forget what they could’ve done and start thinking what they can do. With time, corruption grows and people forget their honesty and trust. This is why I feel it’s better to hide from the spotlight, and not be famous, so when people depend on you, you remember who you are and don’t let them down.
