I think civilisation began when humans started developing and discovering. At first, everyone would have been alone, slowly starting to discover that there are more people like them. Due to the need of survival, communication through gestures and signs would have begun. People hunted wild animals, caught fish and birds, gathered fruits, roots, nuts, seeds, leaves and eggs. The immense variety of plants in a tropical land like ours meant that gathering plant produce was an extremely important means of obtaining food. None of these things were easy to do. People had to be alert, quick and have a presence of mind. They also shifted according to their needs. If they stayed at one place for a long time, they would have eaten up all the available plant and animal resources. Therefore, they would have had to go elsewhere in search of food. They also need water to survive which is found in lakes, streams and rivers. Few water bodies are seasonal and people living on their banks would have had to go in search of water during the dry seasons (winter and summer). As people started discovering that they can grow crops, they started settling because it took time and effort to maintain and grow crops. They would have started building shelters to live in. Soon, the population increased and so did development. People started settling in different places of their comfort. They shared the same cultures and societies. They started inventing, replacing and destructing. The infrastructure, clothes, language, food, shelters and technology developed and made us who we are now. Evolution, destruction and creation will always be a part of who we are.
